Ricefields, Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province, 1992.“On assignment for the Discovery Channel, I came upon this scene while scouting the area for an opening shot. This district was rarely seen by Americans at this time, however, now it has become a stop on many tours of Vietnam. The reason this scene caught my eye was that it was very close to an aerial view—from this hillside I felt that I was seeing something from a helicopter in 1972. A pre-industrial landscape.”–Geoffrey Clifford
